Lady GaGa has become the first ever person to score 18 million followers on Twitter.

The Born This Way star has beaten the likes of Justin Bieber and Katy Perry to the milestone, with Biebs being her nearest competition with 16.4 million fans on the social-networking site.

GaGa took to Twitter to thank her Little Monsters for reaching the feat, tweeting: Can't believe I have 18,000,000 TwitterMonsters, really rad, was just a few years ago I had barely any.

Katy Perry is the third most followed person on the website with 13.9 million people subscribing to her updates, while Shakira is fourth with 12.6 million.

Socialite Kim Kardashian is hot on the She Wolf singer's heels when it comes to the Twitter stakes, with 12.5 million fans following her every move.
